Things To Do in Yamba

For decades, Yamba has been a dreamy seaside town appealing to the young and young at heart.

Yamba is south enough to enjoy seasonal sights but north enough to avoid too bitter a Winter. Geographically speaking, Yamba occupies one of this lucky land’s more primo positions. Yamba (and neighbouring areas including MacLean and Angourie) offers natural and man-made attractions as diverse as the folk that have been visiting since Matthew Flinders did (for six days) back in July 1799.

Today, this cool coastal township caters to nature lovers, followers of fashion, those looking for a party, or a place to unwind. Catch your dinner on the Clarence River, or the wave of your life at Spooky Point. No matter what you’re looking for, if you’re looking at visiting Yamba, you’re looking in the right place – we know the best things to do in Yamba.

Why'd the ferry cross the river?

Why'd the ferry cross the river?

Probably to check out the quaint little village of Iluka. After all it takes about the same amount of time to drive back out to the highway, head north ’til you (probably) see the sign, then head coast-ward, as it does to board the ferry & enjoy a relaxing float across The Clarence. Skip across to Iluka for relaxed sightseeing and a nostalgic throwback to yesteryear. The Ferry can also take you on a historical river tour or be your private party venue for hire!

Yamba Weddings & events

Yamba Weddings & events

Gone are the days when you eloped to a small town hoping for a few less accepting invitees. Luscious location love-ins are a seriously happening thing, and for obvious reason a Yamba wedding is one of the more sparkling diamonds in the cluster. There’s spectacular locations for a beach ceremony, unique backdrops like the famous Yamba lighthouse and more wedding venue, catering and vendor options than you can shake a bouquet at.

Balls of frustration

Balls of frustration

If small balls and vast green surfaces paint the picture of your happy place, then Yamba just got twice as heavenly. The picture perfect seaside town is home to some of the friendliest clubs you’re likely to find. Yamba Bowling Club is smack-jack in the centre of town, while Yamba Golf & Country Club is just a badly hooked tee shot off the third away from the pristine sands of Pippi Beach. And regardless of whether you wind up proud or profaning, both boast a ‘final hole’ you’ll be more than happy to bunker down in.

Fishing & the mighty Clarence

Fishing & the mighty Clarence

Fisherpeople love Yamba. Reaching from the Pacific Ocean to the upper highlands the Clarence River is alive with fresh & saltwater fishies, and hosts a bustle of daily traffic including kayakers, skiiers, wakerboarders, sightseers and more! Meanwhile Yamba’s backyard pool (aka the Pacific Ocean) teems with both tropical and coldwater marine-life species. Board a deepsea charter hunting everything you can imagine… or just stand on the sand with a rod and a smile.

Getting Sweaty

Getting Sweaty

Not everyone on a getaway wants to escape their daily grind. It may be a small town, but your list of health and fitness options is large. So if you’re the type that simply can’t deal with skipping leg day, Yamba’s got the deep burn you crave. There’s a number of traditional gyms and fitness centres for the strength and cardio crusaders, plus a stack of slower-paced wellness options aiming to give you a more centred, gentle, holistic experience. No matter what side of the fitness fence you play, health and wellness pumps in Yamba.

Wining & Dining

Wining & Dining

Killer grub at a world famous pub, modern Australian cuisine, fresh seafood and flavour fusions from around the globe. As a dining destination Yamba humbly punches well above its weight. There’s scores of options for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert – think everything from Bowls and Golf Clubs to Fisherman’s Co-Ops and clifftop pubs. Whether you’re travelling with the fam shoestring style or totally spoiling yourself, Yamba has you covered.

Coffee Culture & Cafes

Coffee Culture & Cafes

While many parts feel completely unchanged by time, Yamba’s cafe scene is bang on pace with the big smokes. Your coffee fix sure ain’t broke just because you’re venturing away from your comfy caffeinated bubble. Yamba’s coffee game is strong, so whether you base your opinion on bean origin or quirky decor, you’ll have plenty to deliberate while you sip your steamy brew.
